My business has benefited from additional exposure to local Czech firms, and from expat contacts working with these firms, in developing a strategic product portfolio in nanotechnology applications. Equally, there has been valuable new professional relationships forming from these business opportunities. and new ventures are in the process of crystallizing as a result of being part of this community.
I have attended countless networking events and business breakfasts in Prague since returning from the UK. Recently I heard of a group which goes beyond the usual once-in-a-fortnight-breakfast and 60 sec elevator pitch format. That group was supposed to be truly international, meeting on multiple occasions, generating sound business ideas and real business opportunities. The group is called BE Project and I became a member earlier this year.
If you expect to come to a networking event and close a deal – that's not realistic because it does not happen that fast – it takes time to build relationships. I choose to be a member of BE Project because I like the supportive and helpful environment, I trust in the same values of cooperation, human connection and rapport. And thanks to Steven everyone feels very comfortable - he is a very inspirational person.
I joined BE Project (formerly Business Ethos) 2 years ago. Within days, I gained a new impetus for my business, and a book of diverse contacts, which is still there to support me. The BE Project network has also helped me to build a number of fee-paying relationships, either by design or by getting to know who was at the meeting on the day.
I came to BE Project at a point when nothing was going in the right direction for me. I was going down the wrong path. BE Project really changed my outlook, surrounding me with a great group of people that have become my business partners and friends I can rely on.
I don't think the format can be improved. If you want to meet then you get up early, period.
A kick up the ass now and again, advice and a go-to-network for when I need something.
Every meeting gave me a lot as well as a chance to give something back. It brought me tangible items: 2 specific business projects, 2 music bands to play with, 1 great Himalaya Guide (Uttar) and a lot of fun, inspiration and new friends.
BE Project has helped to boost my confidence. I also loved the inspirational conversations during the Pathfinder meetings and the sense of belonging to a team. I met great people and I received incredible support from them.
BE Project has been my reintroduction to the "gig economy", it's possibilities and how to work outside the standard company and investment models. A refreshing meeting environment in great locations, with stimulating projects, alternative business models and a willingness to get involved.
